Have you ever wanted to know what God thinks when we become friendly with the things of this world.
I John 2:15-17 Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. For everything in the world – the lust of the freish, the lust of th eeys, and the pride of life – comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.
James, the brother of Christ, doesn’t beat around the bush. You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. James 4:4
All through the Old Testament, God was calling his people away from the things of this earth. The gospel writers are calling us to follow Christ, who is the Saviour of this world. When we give up the things of this world and grasp onto Christ, then we are assured of eternal life, when Christ returns.
