Obadiah: It is Only 21 Verses

Recently, a group of pastors were sitting around talking, sharing, really enjoying our time together. I ask the others: “Have any of you ever preached a sermon from the book of Obadiah?” None of them had. I followed up by asked if any of them had ever really studied it? All had read it but none had really given it serious study time. After all, it is easy to read for it is only 21 verses in length making it the shortest book in the Old Testament.

One pastor spoke up saying: “It is just a prophecy given to Obadiah against the Edomites who were the descendants of Esau, Jacobs brother. Since it is prophecy already fulfilled it really doesn’t apply to us today.”

Most all agreed and I didn’t comment further or ask any additional questions, but determine to study the book for myself to see what hidden truths could be found.

Starting the first part of April, I will begin to unfold what I found in a short series regarding Obadiah’s prophecy against the Edomites and how it still applies to us today. I hope you will look for and enjoy this series, as we study it together.

Blessings

Pastor Lester

      1. The lessons of yester-day and yester-years are the lessons repeated for a better today; God’s

Word forever lasting. Truly we can trust Him. Thank you Pastor Bentley
