The Lord Goes Before us
Deuteronomy 31:6, 8
8 And the Lord, he is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you, do not fear or be dismayed.
In the work of the Lord there is no substitute for godly leadership. As Moses did with Joshua, Christ with His apostles, and Paul with Timothy and Titus, we must equip others, others younger than ourselves to take our place in leadership.
To fail to teach others to lead, then we are not showing Christian love and in fact are being selfish. But for the true Christian leader, turning over the reigns, the controls to another is not easy. But God has promised and spoke through Moses who gives us a wonderful example of turning leadership over to another. God through Moses said. God is the one who goes before you. He will always be with you nor will he forsake you. Therefore, do not be dismayed, do not fret, for I am with you. (Deuteronomy 31:8 paraphrased)
But these words also are true to the leader that is just stepping up to the plate and realizes that he has big shoes to fill. As God has been with the leader that was before, so he will be with you. Because of you, the victories of the past will be small in comparison to what God has in store for the leader who understands “That the Lord, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you, do not fear of be dismayed.”
So, as it says in Deuteronomy 31:6 “Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, he is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.
