Predestined to Hell
by Kim Larsen
John 3:16-17 “For God so loved the works that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.”
I mentioned last week that there are two doctrines in mainstream Christianity that are just unbelievably diabolical. They are predestination and eternal torment. Predestination, as generally taught, says God decides each person’s eternal destiny- saved or lost. And then lost is defined as spending eternity in the flames of hell.
I remember being a young teenager and going to a youth conference. To start the whole thing off with a bang, they showed a movie called, “The burning Hell”. At the end of the presentation, the pastor said, We really don’t care if we scare you into a profession , we just want you to make a profession. Well it scared me alright. I was afraid of God! My view of God was altered from then on.
There are many rational people who simply cannot believe in a god like that either. They would rather choose to be an atheist than to believe that picture of God. I can’t blame them, can you?
Thankfully I found the truth and have found Our Creator to be a loving Father who has created each one of us with free will to choose our destiny. We can choose to love him and follow his commandments and enjoy eternity with Him or choose not to and suffer the consequences of our decision and earn the wages of sin which is death. Eternal life is promised not eternal torment.
Our God is better than that. Shouldn’t we proclaim to the world the picture of God in the verse above?
