Undercover Angel

II Timothy 3:1-5, “But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power, and from such people turn away.
This verse reminds me of the 5:30 news broadcast any evening you happen to turn it on doesn’t it? There’s no debate about whether we are in the last days or not, we’re there. We are in a time of moral bankruptcy. We’re told to turn away from all of this, but the alarming part is the very last line of this passage. “Having a form of godliness but denying the power thereof.” How often this is disguised by religion. Satan is working as never before. He is working as director of the Christian world . He hides his deformity under the cover of Christianity
Just like the evening news , we may not be able to believe only half of what we hear and perhaps not even what we see. Genius, talent, sympathy, even generous and kindly deeds, may be decoys of Satan to trip us . Miracles may not be evidence of God’s work.
So, how in the world are we to navigate through all of this deception? Be steadfast! 2 Peter 3:14, 15 tells us Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless; and consider that the long suffering of our Lord is salvation– as also our beloved brother Paul , according to the wisdom given Him has written to you. Vs 17 …. since you know this beforehand, beware lest you also fall from your steadfastness, being led away with the error of the wicked; but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen
As your soul yearns after God, you will find more and still more of the unsearchable riches of His grace. As you contemplate these riches you will come into possession of them and will reveal the merits of the Saviour’s sacrifice, the protection of His righteousness, the fullness of His wisdom, and His power to present you before the Father.
