Enter by the narrow gate for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it. Matthew 7:13, 14
The narrow gate described by Jesus during His sermon on the Mount, is a reference to the tabernacle that was built by Moses in the desert. The entrance to the court is only 30 feet wide and was held up of four pillars which represent Christ and the four gospels. By studying the sanctuary, we discover that through the sanctuary there is a path to the very throne of God.
Solomon says in Proverbs 3:6, 7 In all your ways acknowledge Him, and he shall direct your paths. 7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD and depart from evil.
Solomon’s wise council is for us to acknowledge Christ as our saviour and invite Him into our hearts. Christ directs the Holy Spirit who is living in our hearts to direct our steps on the path to God the Father. Our own wisdom, our own self-righteousness will not gain us entrance into heaven. It is through submitting our will to Christ, that He can direct your paths to the Throne of God. Without God’s leading, it is like walking with no direction.
