The Priest-King

The Priest-King

Scripture: Zechariah 6:9–15
Theme: Christ unites priestly mercy and kingly authority

Devotional

The crowning of Joshua symbolizes a coming figure who will be both Priest and King—a role fulfilled perfectly in Christ. As Priest, He intercedes. As King, He rules. As the Branch, He builds God’s true Temple—the Church.

This union brings both comfort and accountability. Christ cares for us and commands us. He forgives and leads. He is tender and powerful.

Reflection Questions

  1. Which aspect of Christ do you lean on most—Priest or King?
  2. How does Christ’s dual role inspire your obedience?
  3. What does it mean to be part of God’s Temple?

Prayer

“Lord Jesus, be both my Priest and my King.”

Memory Verse

Zechariah 6:12 — “Behold, the Man whose name is the Branch…He shall build the temple of the Lord.”
