Scripture: Zechariah 7
Theme: God desires hearts of justice, mercy, and obedience
Devotional
The returned exiles ask about fasting, but God says their rituals were self-centered. What He wants is justice, mercy, compassion, and humility. True worship flows from transformed hearts, not repeated ceremonies.
Religion without righteousness becomes hypocrisy. God cares far more about how we treat others than how consistently we perform rituals.
Reflection Questions
- What parts of your faith may have become ritualistic?
- How can you show justice and mercy this week?
- What does sincere worship look like in daily life?
Prayer
“Lord, transform my heart so my worship reflects Your character.”
Memory Verse
Zechariah 7:10 — “Show mercy and compassion everyone to his brother.”
