Believers are children of God, born again by the Holy Spirit
John 1:12, 13; But to all who believed Him and accepted Him, he gave the right to become children of God. They are reborn – not with physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God.
This was the point Jesus made when in John 3:3; “Most assuredly, I say to you, until one is born again, he cannot see the king of heaven.”
Nicodemus failed to understand this point and so do many of us. We feel we can earn our own way to heaven and it is our might and strength that gets us there.
But Titus 3:4-7 paints a much different picture. But – When God our Saviour revealed his kindness and love, He saved us, not because of the righteous things we have done, but because of His mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spiritt. He generously poured out the Spirit upon us through Jesus Christ our Saviour.
There is nothing we can do accept to believe on Him and become renewed by the Holy Spirit, then and only then we can become the children of God.
